Available Formats and Flexible Implementation With Science Bits
Science Bits organizes science work in the classroom by combining multiple formats: a digital platform, print version and a student notebook. How each format is used depends on instructional decisions and the practical conditions of each school—device availability, internet access, classroom organization, individual or group work, and the type of activity.
Units can be taught with devices, without devices, or by alternating between both approaches within the same instructional sequence.
What Each Format Offers In Classroom Practice
- The digital platform is used when it provides clear added value: simulations, interactive resources, self-correctable activities, generative feedback, and tools to track student progress. It includes more instructional resources than the print version and serves as strong support for teacher explanations.
- The print version is included with every student license and provides access to selected content when devices or internet access are not available.
- The student notebook allows students to develop procedures, justify their answers, represent data, and document their reasoning process.

What Does the Print Version of Science Bits Include?
The Science Bits digital license includes a PDF version of the “Engage,” “Explore,” and “Explain” lessons, along with selected activities.
All content in the PDF is also available in the digital version. However, the digital platform offers many more instructional resources, caters to diversity, enables teachers to monitor student progress for formative assessment, and provides effective support for classroom explanations.
We also believe it is important for students to use a notebook to complete activities and maintain the habit of taking notes.

Handwritten Notes
Combining digital tools with handwritten work enriches classroom practice and ensures that teachers have the right tools for each instructional approach.
In Science Bits, this balance is especially important because some activities require slower, more reflective work. Once students complete their work, they enter their answers on the platform and check whether their results are correct. Teachers can also access detailed information about the tasks completed by their students.
